Comcast NBCUniversal is committed to driving creativity and helping organizations use technology to develop solutions to everyday challenges in our communities. As part of this commitment, The NBCUniversal Foundation and NBC and Telemundo Owned Stations launched Project Innovation, a new competitive grant challenge, earlier this year to support non-profit organizations that are embracing technology and innovation to develop new community solutions.

Community Youth Advance is proud to be counted one of six nonprofits in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area to be awarded in its inaugural year. We thankNBC4 for recognizing our commitment to programs that support youth  STEAM education and help advance the next generation of K-12 students with a focus on these in-demand skills (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math).

This grant award will fund our Summer Academy. In collaboration with PGCPS, CYA has targeted seven elementary schools and two middle Title I schools in the Langley Park community in critical need of supportive services.  CYA’s Summer Academy will deliver additional literacy, math, and STEAM hands-on activities that extend students’ learning and prevent summer learning loss.
