Frederick Douglass once noted, “It is easier to build strong children than to repair broken men.” Fifteen years ago, four black men made a decision to break the cycle of pain by building up youth in their community in a deep and meaningful way. Despite a deficit of hope and a surplus of hurdles, they charged into the lives of young boys and girls to teach them how to unleash their brilliance. Today, we are honored to see the success of thousands of young people that many of YOU have helped to spark.

We are so proud that Community Youth Advance (CYA) has become a vital part of the Prince George’s County community. We have helped to transform the lives of our students through empowerment, compassion, and the development of their character. We have always rejected the notion that we can do this work alone. A broad community of friends including business leaders, neighbors and colleagues have made CYA a trusted partner, because they see results in our youth – year after year.
