Welcome our New Executive Director Jhae Thompson

Community Youth Advance welcomes new Executive Director Jhae Thompson

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
October 21, 2021 (Hyattsville, MD) – Community Youth Advance has announced the hiring of a new
Executive Director, Jhae Thompson. Jhae has provided strategic vision and organizational management
in the education and nonprofit sector for the last 13 years. Jhae’s leadership consistently supports
students and family’s ability to access academic, social emotional, and post-secondary opportunities.

In previous roles with The AnBryce Foundation, Horton’s Kids, Higher Achievement – Baltimore, and the
District of Columbia Public Schools, Jhae served as a senior leader to oversee innovative programming to
meet the needs of those in underserved communities while creating impactful outcomes.

Before working in the educational and nonprofit industries, Jhae spent five years in the healthcare insurance industry for Blue Cross Blue Shield and Aetna as a marketing professional supporting strategic sales and client communication. She holds a Bachelor of Arts from Temple University and a Master of Arts from La Salle University, located in Philadelphia, PA. In addition, she is a Nonprofit Management
Executive Certificate Alumni for the McCourt School of Public Policy at Georgetown University.

“We are excited to have Jhae join our team as Community Youth Advance continues to grow,” said Cassius Priestly, Board Chairman. “This year, we will increase our 21 st Century Community Learning Centers to six PGCPS locations and continue our work to re-engage academically disengaged students
throughout the district. We are also truly thankful for our immediate past Executive Director Danielle
Middlebrooks, who will remain with us in a Strategic Operations role throughout the transition.”
